Golden Kick head coach Fiifi Parker Hanson has attributed his side’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the 2025 MTN FA Cup final to a lack of experience among his players.
The lower-tier side put up a valiant performance on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium but fell short against the more seasoned Kotoko side.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Parker Hanson expressed disappointment over the missed opportunity, insisting that his team’s inexperience made the difference.
“I would have defeated Kotoko with experienced players,” he stated. “We have immature players. If I had just three of Kotoko’s experienced players, I would have beaten them hands down without hesitation.”
He continued, “You saw the immaturity in these boys. Sometimes they need to make the right decisions, but because they lack experience, they fall short. We really wanted to win the FA Cup and make history.”
Despite the loss, Golden Kick earned plaudits for their remarkable journey to the final, having stunned several top-tier sides along the way.
Asante Kotoko’s victory, meanwhile, secures them a place in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, as they look to return to continental competition with renewed ambition.
