Ghanaian international Inaki Williams expressed his joy after leading Athletic Bilbao to a 2-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League. The Black Stars forward played a key role, guiding his team to a solid win on Thursday night at San Mamés Barria.
Williams, who played the full 90 minutes, made his mark by scoring the opening goal in the 72nd minute, with an assist from his younger brother, Nico Williams. This crucial strike put Athletic Bilbao ahead in a tightly contested match. Reflecting on the victory, Inaki shared his excitement on Instagram, writing, “How beautiful it is to play Europa League in San Mames. What a win, we deserved it. Thank you all for the support.”
Athletic Bilbao sealed their triumph in the 86th minute when Oihan Sancet added a second goal, again set up by Nico Williams, completing a memorable night for the Williams brothers.
Inaki Williams has been in excellent form this season, with six goals in ten matches across all competitions. He has scored one goal and provided four assists in La Liga, while adding another goal in two Europa League appearances.
The 30-year-old forward is expected to be part of Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan next week.
