Mohammed Kudus, a talented footballer from Ghana, shared a sweet memory from his childhood about his favorite local team, Hearts of Oak.
In a chat with Sky Sports, he reminisced about the days when he cheered for this historic Ghanaian club while growing up in Accra, the capital city of Ghana.
Hearts of Oak holds a special place in Ghanaian football history as the oldest club in the country. Their success story is impressive, with a whopping 21 Ghana League titles under their belt. From 1997 to 2002, they even pulled off an incredible streak of six straight victories. Not to mention their remarkable achievements in continental competitions like the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederations Cup, making them legends in Ghanaian football.
Kudus fondly remembered the electric atmosphere of Hearts of Oak matches, describing it as “crazy.” Being from Accra, he felt a deep connection with the team, as they represented his hometown on the football field.
“I was supporting a team in Ghana called Hearts [of Oak], a team in the Ghana league. [The atmosphere] it was crazy. It is in the city I grew up in, in Accra, the capital,” he recalled.
Despite facing a decline in recent years and currently sitting in the 11th position in the Ghana Premier League, Hearts of Oak’s legacy remains strong. Kudus’s continued admiration for the club reflects its lasting impact on Ghanaian football culture.
