Black Stars of Ghana’s head coach, Milovan Rajevac has revealed that, the target is to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup despite facing a must win game against Zimbabwe.
Ghana will need to win their return fixture of the double header against the Warriors to increase their chances of qualifying for the next World Cup.
The Black Stars kept the heat on Group G leaders, South Africa with a 3-1 win over the Warriors in the first clash of the double header at the Cape Coast Stadium last Saturday.
A win in the return fixture in Harare today will boost Ghana’s chances for a slot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup after missing out in the 2018 edition held in Russia.
Milovan Rajevac said of the clash against Zimbabwe: “As we all know, this is a very important match for us and we expect a tough match. We respect the team we are playing against and we have a clear target, which is to qualify for the World Cup so we are going to do everything in our power to put good performance and try to win.
“Definitely for us it is very important and we have our target and we know it is not going to be easy. The first match was also not easy because in some part of the match, Zimbabwe showed they also have quality.” Milovan Rajevac said.
In the first game of the double header at the Cape Coast Stadium, Mohammed Kudus shot Ghana into the lead on the 5th minute before Zimbabwe pulled parity on the 47th minute through the penalty spot with captain, Knowledge Musona.
Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey and captain Andre Ayew doubled the lead for the Black Stars on the 66th and 86th minutes respectively to end the game at 3-1 after the full duration.
Ghana have six points in second with South Africa on seven points in first. Ethiopia are third with three and Zimbabwe bottom on just one point.
Ghana still have games against Ethiopia on October 11 before a final clash against South Africa on October 14 to round up the Africa FIFA World Cup qualifier.
