Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following a commanding 4-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the third-place playoff of the 2025 Unity Cup.
After a narrow 2-1 loss to Nigeria in the semifinals, Ghana bounced back strongly on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, securing a bronze finish in style.
Captain Jordan Ayew opened the scoring in the 15th minute, setting the tone for a dominant first half. Nations FC’s Razak Simpson and Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohammed Fuseini both scored on their senior debuts, giving Ghana a 3-0 lead before halftime. Cercle Brugge midfielder Lawrence Agyekum, who recently completed a permanent move to the Belgian side, added the fourth goal in the 57th minute to seal the result.
Speaking after the match, Otto Addo praised the overall team display and singled out the younger players for making the most of their opportunities.
“In general, we got a lot of answers, and it’s also good to look to the future. I think some of the boys used the chances,” Addo said.
Reflecting on the team’s recent outings, the coach expressed satisfaction with the consistency and growth shown by the squad.
“They did really well, and surely we will continue to observe them. For us, we played well in the last World Cup qualifiers as well,” he noted.
“We will observe and see how they do in their clubs, and like I said, today I’m very satisfied.”
With the Unity Cup campaign now concluded, attention shifts to Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The Black Stars will return to action in September with crucial back-to-back fixtures—an away clash against Chad followed by a home game against Mali on Matchdays 7 and 8.
