In the second leg of their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier, Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle experienced a 1-0 defeat against Namibia.
However, Ghana secured their spot in the tournament with a 3-2 aggregate score, courtesy of their 3-1 victory in the first leg.
Coach Nora Hauptle displayed visible emotions at the final whistle, shedding tears as she received consolation from her technical team members. This defeat marked Hauptle’s first since taking charge of the Black Queens, concluding an impressive streak of 10 consecutive victories.
Despite the setback, Hauptle maintained a positive outlook, acknowledging the strength of the opposition in Namibia. She emphasized the importance of learning from the experience and looking ahead.
With their focus now on the WAFCON tournament scheduled for June 2024, the Black Queens anticipate tough competition from regional powerhouses. Still, they approach the challenge with confidence, building on their promising form under Hauptle’s guidance.
While the defeat to Namibia served as a minor setback in an otherwise successful qualifying campaign, the Black Queens remain poised to showcase their strengths and make a significant impact in the upcoming WAFCON tournament.
