Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has left out injured Majeed Ashimeru out of his Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach announced the squad on Wednesday at the GFA secretariat ahead of the crucial games.
Ashimeru couldn’t finish the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana and has also not played a lot for Anderlecht.
Speaking at the presser, the GFA director of communications mentioned Ashimeru as part of the players who will miss the games.
The Black Stars are set to face Mali on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako in the third round of qualifying for the Canada and USA World Cup,
Four days later, the team will return to Ghana for the fourth round match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium against the Central African Republic.
Ghana opened its qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi before losing by the same score line to Comoros in the second group game.
Ghana currently sits fourth in Group I with three points, three behind leaders Comoros.
