Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema has said that he is disappointed by the fact that his national team failed to reach the quater-finals of the UEFA Euro 2020 following their elimination against Switzerland.
Benzema – playing for the French national team for the first time in over 5 years – scored four goals in the tournament, a brace each against Portugal and the Swiss.
“The disappointment is immense, I would have liked to continue to thrill you for a long time to come. Thank you for the strength you have given me daily. Nothing is ever easy. We are preparing for the future and we will come back even stronger.” he said on Tuesday.
