Former Dutch international George Boateng believes Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is best suited to Manchester United but wants him to stick to his current club Atletico Madrid despite being chased by Arsenal.
Partey has heavily been linked with a move to play in the English premier league with Arsenal reportedly close to securing the player’s signature.
But speaking to Citi TV, the former Aston Villa player George Boateng said Partey’s role will be more suited to Machester United who could form a midfield trio together with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
“If we look at Manchester United’s situation that is even more suitable”
“Pogba in a three-man midfield is a much better player as the 8 and Fernandes operating as the 10”, Boateng said.
He further added that signing Partey will give Pogba and Bruno more opportunity to move up field.
“Can they have someone like Thomas Partey to control and lead the midfield to allow Pogba and Fernandes to move forward, I think Manchester United will start playing to win the league” Boateng said.
Thomas Partey has a buyout clause of £45million on his current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano, a figure which should not prove too much for Manchester United who continue to rebuild their side.
He has been a key figure in the Atletico Madrid team this season as they finished third in the Spanish La Liga.
George Boateng featured for Hull City, Aston Villa, Feyenoord, Middlesbrough, among others.
