Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has heaped praise on Thomas Partey for his outstanding performances this season, urging Arsenal to secure the midfielder’s future with a new contract.
Partey has been a key figure in Arsenal’s campaign, playing a vital role in their journey to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. His commanding display in midfield during the Gunners’ convincing win over Real Madrid helped the team seal a spot among the final four in Europe’s top competition.
Despite his consistent excellence, the Ghana international is yet to be offered a new deal, with just two months left on his current contract. This uncertainty has sparked interest from several elite European clubs, including Barcelona and his former side Atletico Madrid.
Impressed by Partey’s influence, Gyan believes Arsenal must act swiftly to retain such a crucial player.
“At the moment, Partey is one of the best midfielders in the world, there is no doubts about that,” Gyan said. “He has an impressive statistics at Arsenal this season. Compare the winning percentage of Arsenal anytime he starts. He is a huge figure when it comes to Arsenal so all that I will say is, they should give him a contract.”
Partey has made 47 appearances in all competitions this season, underlining his importance to Mikel Arteta’s side. However, he is set to miss the first leg of Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain due to injury.
