Andre Ayew, the captain of Ghana, has stated the Black Stars will make every effort to win their 2022 World Cup Group H opening against Portugal on Thursday.
Otto Addo’s team will be underdogs going into the game, but Andre said the players will be motivated by Saudi Arabia’s shocking victory over Argentina on Tuesday.
The Black Stars will begin their campaign against the 2016 European champions on Thursday at the Stadium 974.
Ayew said the Black Stars will make sure they are prepared for the match while knowing there can be surprises at the international showpiece.
“We know that in these big tournaments there are lots of surprises that can happen, so we just need to be ready,” he said at the pre-match presser.
“The Saudi game [vs Argentina] was great and marvellous, but we need to think about ourselves and not look at what somebody has done.
“And we will prepare for our game, which we are going to do everything to get something out of it.”
