Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has voiced his disappointment with the national team’s lackluster performance following their 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Libya.
The team has been struggling with declining form for an extended period, failing to make an impact in any major tournaments in recent years.
The Black Stars have consistently underperformed on the continental stage and now face the possibility of missing the upcoming AFCON, scheduled to be held in Morocco next year.
In an interview with Onua TV, Agyemang Badu expressed his frustration, stating that there is no longer a need to sugarcoat the situation for Ghanaians, as he feels disillusioned with the current state of the team.
“The national team is in a slump; we don’t need to massage anything anymore,” he lamented. “I am tired; personally, I am tired. At this point, we have to be humble and go back. There’s nothing going on, from the local league to the youth and women’s teams. Even controlling a ball is difficult,” he added.
The Black Stars have struggled to find their footing, winning only two of their last 12 matches across all competitions. In the AFCON qualifiers, Ghana has scored just one goal and amassed only two points, leaving their chances of qualifying for the tournament at a mere 10%.
Failing to qualify for the tournament would mark the ninth occasion that the four-time African champions have missed out on this prestigious competition.
