Ferencvaros manager Peter Stöger has sent his apology to Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong for the ankle injury he suffered in his team’s UEFA Europa League match on Thursday night.
Aissa Laidouni scored in the 82nd minute to give Ferencvaros a 1-0 win over the German side.
The Dutch right-back was brought on in the 71st minute and was kicked out by Marijan Čabraja in the second minute of stoppage time. The Ferencvaros player jumped on Frimpong’s ankle and only saw yellow for the gross foul.
Budapest Peter Stöger apologized to Frimpong immediately after the final whistle. Stöger to BILD: “The foul was unnecessary, he doesn’t have to go there like that.”
Leverkusen is worried about Frimpong, who was led from the seat into the cabin with great pain.
“He was badly hit on the ankle and further examinations are being carried out at the hotel. It didn’t look so nice,” coach Gerardo Seoane said after the game.
With Doctors conducting tests to examine the extent of the injury, Frimpong could miss Leverkusen league game against Frankfurt this weekend.
