Ghanaian coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu has taken up a new role as assistant coach with Al Merriekh’s technical team ahead of the upcoming Value Jet Cup, scheduled from July 24 to August 31 at Remo Stars’ home ground in Nigeria.
The Sudanese club has confirmed Osei-Fosu’s appointment, which coincides with the international football break, allowing him to dedicate time to both club responsibilities and scouting potential talents for Sudan’s bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As an assistant coach to Kwesi Appiah in the Sudanese national team, Osei-Fosu sees this opportunity as a dual mission – to support Al Merriekh and identify players who can make an impact on the global stage.
With Al Merriekh one of four confirmed participants in the tournament, alongside Shooting Stars, Remo Stars, and Kwara United, Osei-Fosu is set to work closely with the team as they prepare for the competitive tournament.
Al Merriekh has already arrived in Ikenne, Ogun State, preparing for the Value Jet Cup, which promises to be an exhilarating and fiercely contested edition. Other teams expected to finalize their participation include Rangers International, Abia Warriors, Ikorodu City, and former NPFL champions Rivers United.
