Strasbourg are in negotiations with Chelsea over the potential signing of academy talent Genesis Antwi, as the French side look to bolster their squad following a difficult summer transfer window.
The Ligue 1 outfit have identified the 18-year-old English-Ghanaian winger as an ideal addition to their ranks after losing several key players. Habib Diarra sealed a big move to Sunderland, Andrey Santos returned to Chelsea after his loan spell, and goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic completed a transfer to Bournemouth.
Despite those departures, Strasbourg are keen to rebuild, and Antwi has emerged as a prime target. The Swedish youth international, who joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of 11, is widely regarded as one of the club’s brightest young prospects.
He made his senior debut in March during a UEFA Conference League clash with Copenhagen, later featuring against Djurgården, and was also named on the bench for Chelsea’s Premier League game against Leicester City.
Antwi has shown his quality at wing-back, combining defensive work rate with attacking flair. He recently caught attention by providing a brilliant assist in Chelsea’s friendly against Bayer Leverkusen, underlining his creativity and energy on the flanks. His attributes make him a natural fit for Liam Rosenior’s system, where young talents like Diego Moreira have already thrived.
According to The Chelsea Spot, Strasbourg are holding discussions with Chelsea and Antwi’s representatives. The teenager and his family have even visited the French club’s training ground, signalling progress in negotiations.
If the deal is completed, Antwi would become the latest Chelsea academy graduate to continue his development at Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, while helping Rosenior address gaps in a reshaped squad.
