Southampton have reportedly turned down a £10 million bid from Serie A side Atalanta for Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to Sky Sports News.
The 22-year-old has become a transfer target for multiple European clubs following Southampton’s relegation from the English Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 season. Despite Atalanta’s attempt to snap up the speedster with an early offer, the Saints have made it clear they value Sulemana significantly higher and have no intention of letting him go for a cut-price fee.
Sulemana joined Southampton from French side Stade Rennais in January 2023, and although injuries limited his full impact, he showcased moments of brilliance with his blistering pace, direct attacking play, and flair. His performances have kept him on the radar of several top-tier clubs.
In the recently concluded season, the Ghana international made 26 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Though Southampton endured a dismal campaign—finishing bottom with just 12 points—Sulemana remains one of their most valuable assets and a key target in the transfer market.
Apart from Atalanta, Genoa and Torino—two other Italian sides—are said to be keeping tabs on his situation, while Dutch giants Ajax and Turkish club Trabzonspor have also expressed interest in landing the winger.
Currently under contract at St. Mary’s until 2027, Sulemana is on holiday while weighing up his future. A move could materialize later in the summer window, depending on how negotiations evolve and whether Southampton receive an offer that meets their valuation.
If a transfer does not materialize, the former FC Nordsjaelland and Rennes star will compete in the English Championship next season, with Southampton aiming to bounce back to the Premier League.
