Samartex midfielder Lord Hilary Adabo has reassured fans that his team is prepared and confident as they approach their CAF Champions League encounter with Cameroonian side Victoria United.
Scheduled for August 18, 2024, the first leg will take place away in Douala, with the return fixture to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium. Under the leadership of coach Nurudeen Amadu, the team has already arrived in Cameroon and will begin their preparations with a hotel stay and a shake-up session later today, followed by two days of focused training.
Adabo, speaking to Kessben FM, conveyed the team’s readiness and lack of pressure. “This is a significant opportunity for us to showcase our abilities on the African stage. It’s a major source of motivation for us. We’re not feeling any pressure; we understand the task at hand. We’ve had discussions among ourselves and are determined to perform well against Victoria United,” he said.
As the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex is making its debut in the CAF Champions League after displacing Medeama as the league’s top team last season.
The winner of this tie will progress to the second preliminary round, where they could face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a spot in the group stages.
