Ghana head Coach James Kwesi Appiah has said Africa is fortunate to have strong representing countries who have what it takes to cause surprises in Russia next year despite the Black Stars failing to secure qualification.
Appiah believes the African countries who have qualified for the world’s biggest competition won’t be an easy to be beaten teams considering their outstanding performance during the qualifiers.
After his side’s inability to clinch qualify for the World Cup, Appiah tells 3 Sports “Africa have what it takes to shock the world with exploiting performance, having countries like Senegal, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia and Egypt all representing to raise the flag of Africa high.”

On the Stars game against Egypt said ” though l tried to squeeze out a win for the stars after we happened to saw most of the balls, having 65% of ball possession and 24 shots on targets haven’t ruled out the fact the match was a testing match to get a winsome side for the country come next year in both the AFCON and World Cup qualifying matches,” he noted.
He continued “The Black Stars have a bright future. And the fact that l don’t invite a player during national call-ups doesn’t mean he’s bad or something, as others suggested about Mubarak Wakaso when his name failed to appear in the call- up list for quite some time now.

‘’The team as said earlier on is actually under development and needs a lot of patients from the citizenry.”
The Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw in their final qualifying match on Sunday in Cape Coast against Hector Cuper’s Egypt who have already qualify for the global show piece.
