Have the Porcupine Warriors turned the corner? Asante Kotoko are unbeaten in their last three games since they visited Manhyia Palace for a crunch meeting with Opemsoɔ.
Before the Manhyia Palace visit, Asante Kotoko had lost 7 in 9 GPL games. They won one and drew one in the other two games.
The supporters, the playing body, the coaching staff and the IMC were in severe pain. A decision needed to be made in that period and hence club patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll invited the team.
Since they returned from Manhyia Palace, things have changed and fans are hoping it will remain the same until the season ends.
In an interview with the club’s YouTube channel, deputy skipper Richmond Lamptey shared his thoughts on how it feels like when playing for Asante Kotoko.
“You can’t joke at Kotoko, you have to give everything when playing for the club,” said Lamptey. The gifted midfielder revealed that Asante Kotoko is a huge club so you have to give your all before the supporters can be satisfied.
When asked the exact reason why they began the second round poorly by losing 7 games in 9, the skipper said it was fear that was killing the boys.
“Fear was the reason why we were losing every week. By God’s grace, I can feel the boys are overcoming their fears,” added Richmond Lamptey.
During Asante Kotoko’s troubled period, one could see that the boys were under immense pressure due to fear of being severely criticised by the fans.
Asante Kotoko will play against Berekum Chelsea in their next GPL game in Berekum before welcoming Accra Hearts of Oak in the super clash.
