Since taking over in November2016, Asante Kotoko Executive Director Dr Kwame Kyei has spent close to GHS100,0000 into the Kumasi based Club Sportsworldghana.com has established.
After inheriting the club from the wretched state from the Lawyer Adu Gyamfi’s and Opoku Nti’s led administration, the business tycoon has spent GHS400,000 only on salaries, the playing body & the technical team forming a major component of the cost.
The club’s contract with the Telecommunications company MTN as the headline sponsor expired in October last year. MTN had been taking cost of the player’s salaries every month but due to the expiration, Dr Kyei has been paying the salaries of all through his own pocket till negotiations are finalized with the telecommunications giant.
Kotoko have also made some household name signing top Ghanaian players as part of their project to win the Ghana league this season with the aim of bouncing back to African club football, the CAF Champions League.
All have come to a financial responsibility onto the new Executive Chairman of the Club. An accumulated of GHS500,000 has been splashed on the club’s new signings.
Quite Apart from these, Dr Kyei has ensured the club’s training center which was deteriorating has been given a facelift just three months into his reign.
