Italian-born Ghanaian youngster Patrick Amoako Nuamah made a significant impact off the bench, scoring Brescia Calcio’s lone goal in their 3-1 defeat to Monza in the Coppa Italia on Thursday evening at U-Power Stadium.
Nuamah, who entered the match at halftime in place of Giacomo Olzer, found the back of the net in the 68th minute with a well-placed left-footed strike from the center of the box, assisted by Ante Juric. His goal reduced the deficit, but Brescia couldn’t complete the comeback.
Monza took control early, with Georgios Kyriakopoulos scoring in the 5th minute and Matteo Pessina doubling the lead just six minutes later. Gianluca Caprari added a third from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, leaving Brescia with an uphill battle.
Monza’s English-born Ghanaian player, Omari Forson, also featured in the match, as his team dominated possession and created more chances.
Brescia will now turn their attention to their Serie B clash against Cremonese on September 30th, aiming to recover from their Coppa Italia elimination.
