Lawyer and Presidential candidate in the last held Ghana FA Presidential Elections, Amanda Clinton , has indicated that a re-election is likely going to be held when the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) brings their final verdict on the case between the association and Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer.
The tribunal was expected to announce the outcome of what has been a prolonged challenge, having rescheduled the date of their ultimate decision from July 17 to August 4.
However, the ruling has been rescheduled to September 1, 2020 by the Court of Arbitration for Sports(CAS).
According to Amanda Clinton, the Swiss-based court hasn’t confirmed its final verdict yet as the back log has not been dealt with or it could be that the there is a complex consideration before them and that a re-election is likely to happen.
Speaking to Yaw Ampofo Ankrah on the first edition of Sports Drive on Accra-based Max 89.7 FM, Amanda Clinton said “It’s a very interesting case because ultimately Palmer is essentially trying to say that if other candidate has gone before the GFA’s Ethics Committee for things such as professional match fixing, bribery, age changing, non-payment and we have other candidates mentioned in the Dzamefe Commission Report.”
“A lot of us remember the Dzamefe Commission Report. It should have been made available to the vetting committee. And so how come just one candidate was excluded. My objective accessement is that they could have excluded all of them, which is at least three (3) or four(4) candidates or included all of them, failing which they have to hold a re-election. Which is likely to happen,” She added.
