Former Black Stars midfielder, Otto Addo, 48, has shared his opinion on the upcoming AFCON to be held in Ivory Coast.
The ex-Black Stars coach who was the head coach during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in an interview on GTV said, “Everything is possible just as I said, it is very important to take it step by step.
“Nowadays there are no weak teams, everybody can defend which makes it very difficult for Ghana and the first step is to qualify for the next stage, that is, to survive the group stage- to finish as best as possible and maybe get easier opponents in the following round”, added Otto Addo.
Having experienced what it takes to be a coach at a major tournament, the Dortmund talent coach said, “I think if Ghana starts to win in the group stage, anything is possible.
“It’s like I said, step-by-step and it is a young team that comes together. It is not easy to put all the things together at these championships (AFCON), anything can happen.
Otto Addo talked about how African teams have improved.
“There’s no weak team anymore. You have to earn your wins very hard. Once we get a good start, it makes the following games easier”, added Otto Addo.
Otto Addo was part of the Ghana team that played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Ghana is placed in Group B with Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique for the 2023 AFCON.
