AFC Eskilstuna has announced the capture of promising Swedish-born Ghanaian youngster defender Charles Junior Sampson.
After an impressive stint with Friska Viljor in Ettan Norra, where he accumulated 828 minutes across eleven matches, Sampson now takes the next step in his career with Eskilstuna.
Sampson’s journey has seen him develop through Segeltorp’s IF, Karlberg’s P19, and Vasalund’s U17 before making his mark at Friska Viljor.
His performances showcased his potential, including a strong 70-minute display in the season’s final match against Eskilstuna – perhaps an early glimpse of his new home.
Eskilstuna’s head coach, Melke Alan, is full of praise for his new signing:
“Charles, a young and promising centre-back with all the conditions to develop into a top player.”
Alan highlights Sampson’s strengths, emphasizing his ability to fit into a modern, possession-based defensive system.
“Charles possesses the qualities that characterize a modern center-back in a playing team. With his calmness, game understanding, and skill with the ball, he can contribute both defensively and in the build-up.
“He has the physics, technology, and attitude required to make big leaps in his development.”
