Accra Hearts of Oak right-back Fatawu Mohammed is set to be handed a late call up by Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier double header against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
Afful, will not be available for Ghana’s double header against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe this month after suffering an injury while training with MLS side Columbus Crew FC.
In view of Afful’s absence, the 2014 World Cup coach has decided to hand the Phobian defender a late invitation to challenge Reading ‘s Andy Yiadom for the right-back position.
The Accra Hearts of Oak captain, was a member of coach Maxwell Konadu’s squad that finished second in the 2019 WAFU Championship in Senegal.
Ghana will host South Africa on Thursday 14th November, 2019 at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Sao Tome to face Sao Tome and Principe on Monday.
