Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has lightheartedly acknowledged the intense speculation surrounding his future at the club, admitting that the ongoing debate over whether he will stay or leave has made him a household name in Ghana.
Speaking in a post-season interview shared by Reality, the Ivorian tactician commented on the media frenzy with a wry smile:
“Now I am popular in Ghana because if you are listening to the radio, it’s Ouattara staying or leaving discussions.”
Ouattara took charge of the Phobians midway through the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, guiding the team away from relegation trouble and eventually securing a fifth-place finish with 55 points. Despite the turnaround under his leadership, the club has yet to publicly confirm whether he will continue in the role next season.
His future has become a hot topic across sports radio stations and online platforms, with fans and pundits debating whether the board should retain him or seek a new direction.
Ouattara’s remarks come just days after he criticised fans for abandoning the team in their final home game, where Hearts defeated Samartex 1-0 at a nearly empty Accra Sports Stadium.
