The Nottingham Forest defender Jordi Osei-Tutu is set to be out of action for another two months with an ankle problem.
Jordi Osei-Tutu recently made his return from a hamstring injury for Nottingham Forest, playing 89 minutes against Swansea City following almost four months out of action.
This weekend, Osei-Tutu followed up that Swansea comeback with his first home game since August, starting against Hull City.
Sadly, it ended with yet another injury concern for the 23-year-old.
After picking up a knock with a contact injury in the first half, Osei-Tutu was unable to continue, eventually being substituted in the 40th minute.
Forest boss Steve Cooper has now confirmed it’s an ankle problem requiring multiple months out.
“(It’s a) two months injury,” Cooper said. “It’s really, really disappointing for the boy, (it was an) innocuous challenge as we all saw.
“He was playing really well in the game.
“Last week, we were just talking about getting a bit of luck when maybe I shouldn’t have said anything, but he’s positive with himself (laughs) he’s telling me he thinks he’ll be back quicker, so he’s obviously in the right frame of mind.
“But I just feel sorry for him, a young player that’s trying to forge a career.
“I really, really hope that this bad luck he has will make him stronger and better for the future.”
The only positive is that this isn’t another hamstring setback. Perhaps Osei-Tutu can use the time away to make sure his hamstring problem is behind him as well as recovering from his new ankle injury.
The Arsenal full-back suffered a hamstring injury in Forest’s game against Blackburn Rovers in August.
That was far from his first, as it followed three of the same setbacks with Cardiff City last season.
Though he’s primarily a right-back, Osei-Tutu has featured exclusively on the left-hand side in his few appearances this season.
It’s just a shame we haven’t been able to see more of what he can do on that side.
