Nsoatreman SC clinched the FA Cup after a dramatic 5-4 victory on penalties against Bofoakwa Tano, following a 1-1 draw at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon on Sunday.
The match kicked off with both teams displaying determination and energy. Nsoatreman SC, who secured an impressive fourth-place finish in the recent Ghana Premier League season, were eager to cap their successful season with a trophy.
Meanwhile, Bofoakwa Tano, who had faced the disappointment of relegation after a hard-fought return to the top flight following 16 years, saw the FA Cup final as an opportunity to redeem their season.
Bofoakwa Tano took the lead in the 22nd minute with a well-placed goal by Richard Dzikoe. The Sunyani-based team appeared set to secure the trophy as they held their lead deep into the second half.
However, with just 11 minutes remaining, Sadat Mohammed of Nsoatreman SC scored a crucial equaliser, sending the game into extra time.
During extra time, both teams created several chances but were unable to break the deadlock, leading to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Nsoatreman SC held their composure and triumphed 5-4 in the shootout, igniting jubilant celebrations among their players and supporters.
With this victory, Nsoatreman SC will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
