Former Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien congratulated Karim Benzema after the latter won the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
Benzema and Essien played together at Real Madrid in 2013 when Essien was on loan. Benzema is still at the club whilst Essien is pursuing coaching.
The Frenchman had a superb season and was deemed the best player by France Football, thereby claiming the Ballon d’Or award for the first time in his career.
