One of such talents is Ghanaian youth midfielder Benjamin Mireku who is attracting interest from clubs in mainstream Europe.
The teenager Benjamin Mireku’s grace, finesse, and subtlety at executing free-kicks is quickly elevating him above the local free-kick demigods and has been likened to English legend David Beckham and Brazilian magician Juninho.
The 19-year-old defensive midfielder has become reputable for converting free-kicks with cheeky ease. His expertise in long passes and long-range shots cannot be taking away from him.
Mireku, who is on the books of Tema City FC, is an intriguing prospect and is currently attracting foreign interests from French Ligue 1 sides Monaco, Bordeaux, Belgian side Genk and Valencia in Spain.
Mireku plays in the city where Atletico Madrid imported Arsenal star Thomas Teye Partey from Ghana to their junior team as well as Genk forward Joseph Paintsil.
‘’Football is my passion so I don’t joke with my training. I really want to make it to the highest level, Mireku tells SPORTSworldGhana.com in a brief interview.
He adds “Sometimes I say all that some of us need as young footballers is opportunity to excel in the game. I believe in my talent and would make good use of what God has given me when the opportunity comes,’’
‘’I would want to play in Europe but if you ask me Germany is my first choice because I believe so much in their football system and training. I know if I get the chance to play in the German League regardless of the Division, it will help me improve more to become a better player.”
