RMC Sport reported on Thursday that Ligue 1 side Rennes have struck an agreement with Spanish side Real Valladolid worth €12m including bonuses for 21-year-old Ghanaian central defender Mohammed Salisu and should the deal be completed Salisu will be the fifth Ghanaian player to play for the Red and Blacks.
The Ligue 1 club are no strangers to Ghanain players. Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah, John Boye and Kamal Issah are the four footbalers from the West African country to play at the Roazhon Park for Rennais.
It is currently unclear whether Rennais have merely activated the player’s release clause, which stood at €12m, or if they have negotiated a slightly lower or more tranched arrangement with the La Liga club.
The Brittany side must now find an arrangement with the player to convince him to come – Premier League side Southampton are notably very interested in his services.
