Ghanaian forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been named in the Premier League Team of the Week following his standout performance for Leicester City in their thrilling comeback victory over Southampton.
Coming off the bench, Issahaku played a pivotal role in inspiring the Foxes to recover from a two-goal deficit to secure a remarkable 3-2 win.
Although he didn’t score, Issahaku’s influence was undeniable as he set up Facundo Buonanotte’s goal in the 64th minute, which initiated Leicester’s comeback. Just moments later, he nearly found the back of the net himself, hitting the crossbar with a powerful strike before Jamie Vardy equalized from the penalty spot.
Issahaku’s contributions were crucial, as he recorded the most touches in the opposition’s box during his 31 minutes on the pitch, showcasing his ability to change the dynamics of the game.
“What an impact! He changed the game for Leicester City when he came on, setting up the first goal and providing a constant threat down the right,” praised Alan Shearer, who compiles the Premier League Team of the Week.
