Former technical head of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah reckons the much talked about game between the team he once coached and the Pharaohs of Egypt will be a tough one.
The man under whose reign Ghana recorded its highest victory over the six-time African champions is of the view that the game on Sunday will be a difficult one due to the status of both countries as “football nations”.
Speaking on Angel FM, the recently crowned Sudanese best coach anticipate a difficult game between the two teams and therefore admonished the Black Stars players to be 100% committed throughout the duration of the game.
” Egypt just like Ghana, is a football nation. We don’t have to think that because we mauled them 6:1 some years ago, we will have it easy on Sunday. I have had the opportunity to watch some of their players and I must say they have really improved. It will be a difficult game for us (Ghana) and its imperative our players stay focus and committed throughout the entire 90 minutes “. Kwesi Appiah disclosed .
Touching on the effects the absence of Asamoah Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah could have on the team, The ex Kotoko defender revealed his plans for the team that was not allowed to be implemented as his spell with the Black Stars was cut short after the 2014 world cup.

” My vision was to build a team for the next 10 years. I met so many guys who were ageing so I had to find ways of fizzing them out and replacing them with young and budding talents. You all know how I managed to take the old guys from the team
A team should not depend on a single player. As a national team, the Black Stars must boast of the avalanche of talents so that in case there’s an injury we have an equal replacement “.
The Black Stars play the Egyptians in front of a reported 80,000 Egyptian supporters. Kwesi Appiah is however hopeful the Stars will return to Accra with a point at least
