Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has boldly declared his intention to defeat Ibrahim Tanko’s Medeama SC when the two title contenders face off at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Zito’s strong statement sets the stage for a highly charged Ghana Premier League fixture, with Kotoko aiming to bounce back immediately after suffering their first loss of the season.
“It’s unfortunate that my brother, Ibrahim Tanko, is meeting me with his Medeama SC side at this time, but I’ll have to beat him on Sunday,” Zito said, signalling his confidence ahead of the showdown.
Kotoko enter the match in fourth place with 20 points and boast an impressive 16-game unbeaten home run in the league.
Medeama, on the other hand, sit second with 22 points and travel to Kumasi riding an eight-match unbeaten streak that has strengthened their title aspirations.
Both teams have conceded only six goals this season, heightening expectations of a tightly contested and defensively disciplined affair.
Kotoko will also take comfort in their home record against Medeama, having won three of their last five league meetings in Kumasi.
