A Level 300 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Solomon Baba Akumba, has emerged the winner of the season 2 of the Malta Guinness Maltavator Challenge, held on Saturday at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.
Akumba showed class and endurance to topple over 40 athletes in three rounds of a challenging obstacle course on the way to claiming a GH₵5,000 cash prize and the opportunity to represent Ghana at the Pan-African Maltavator Championship next month in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Samuel Osei Mensah came second and received GHȼ3,000.00, with Emmanuel Gyeta also taking the third place to take home GHȼ2,000.00.
Daniel Abotsi took the fourth position and went home with GHȼ1,000.00, with Richard Kuevorve placing fifth and also took home GHȼ1,000.00.
The only female in the finals Precious Appiah, placed sixth and got GHȼ1,000.00 for her effort.
The six, will represent Ghana at the Pan African Championship in South Africa
Last year, two Ghanaians picked up the 1st and 2ND runner-up positions in the Pan-African Championship, which was won by Ethiopia’s Keariam Abera.
Meanwhile the Brand Manager for Malta Guinness Ghana, Roland Ofori, has urged the winners to work hard and make themselves, the nation and the Malta Guinness brand proud at the championship.
“ I will just say that they should focus, just have fun and they should also remember that they are not just representing the brand Malta Guinness but they are representing Ghana “
“It is a massive opportunity for them because we have five media syndicates across five African countries and you will never know who might spot you, so they should go all out and ensure they bring the ultimate home” he added
The winner of the Pan-African Maltavator Championship in South Africa will take home $20,000 .
