Asante Kotoko head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has expressed his concerns about the mounting injury issues within his squad ahead of their crucial MTN FA Cup semifinal showdown with Berekum Chelsea.
The match is set to take place on Sunday, May 11, at 18:00 GMT at the TNA Stadium. Kotoko will be aiming to claim their first FA Cup title since 2017, with the competition now representing their best chance to avoid a trophyless 2024–25 season.
In a pre-match press conference, Zito highlighted the importance of consistency in team selection but admitted that the current injury crisis is hampering their preparations.
“We’ve been working hard on the field with the goal of winning the FA Cup,” Zito told reporters. “However, my concern is the injuries within the team. I’m not a fan of making too many changes because consistency is key to success. But right now, the injury situation is overwhelming, and it’s becoming difficult for me to manage.”
Zito, who led Dreams FC to FA Cup glory in the 2022–23 season, is seeking his second FA Cup title, while his counterpart, Samuel Boadu, brings his own wealth of experience to the match. Boadu, a two-time FA Cup winner with Hearts of Oak, will look to guide Berekum Chelsea to an upset in this high-stakes encounter.
