Joseph Gordon! Yes the same name that rang bells in your ears some seasons back in the Ghana Premier League.
The former Medeama SC playmaker, once the darling boy of Ghana’s Black Starlet has been lightening up the Division One League this season despite the struggles of his team.
Gordon, in his early career, shot to fame after his exploits with the national U-17 and became a household name in the country after winning the Most Valuable Player in the 2013 MTN Cup competition when he lifted the trophy with Tarkwa-based Medeama SC against Ghanaian giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC in Sekondi.
The midfield-gem played at Tarkwa for three to four years for the Yellow and Mauves and excelled in the Cup competition as well as the CAF Confederation Cup competition.
In 2016, the then 22-year-old youngster left Medeama SC and joined the 2015 Ghana Premier League winners Obuasi Ashantigold SC for the 2016-17 season after leaving the Never Give Up lads.
Upon his arrival in Obuasi, the young lad became a constant feature for the club in the Domestic League and enjoyed his time at the club for two years running dominating the midfield for the Miners.
This Season
Gordon, 26, after ending his stay with the Yellow and Blacks in Obuasi decided to return home, a club it all started, Asokwa Deportivo SC for the 2020-21 Ghana Division One League.
Upon his arrival at his former club, Gordon worked his way into the team and cemented his position in the starting eleven during the pre-season friendlies and was subsequently appointed the captain of the club going into the season.
After playing ten matches in the Division One League this campaign with the Allah is Great team, the dynamic midfielder has been one of the brightest spot for the struggling Asokwa Deportivo team this season.
The 26-year-old playmaker has scored two goals, and provided three assists in ten matches season for the Asokwa-based club and has won one Most Valuable Player award in the process.
After his impressive showings in the Ghana second-tier league, the midfielder has started courting interest from clubs within and outside of the country asking about the availability of the midfield-gem.
The midfield Bulldozer could become the fourth player to leave the club after Raymond Owusu Frimpong joined Ukraine powerhouse Zorya Luhansk, Emmanuel Nti joining Karela United FC and former Ghana U-20 captain Ishaku Konda signing for Estonia team Paide.
The club has been struggling for results this season but the midfielder has been a pivot and a joy to watch throughout the campaign for his team.
