Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew is admitted that manager Patrick Vieira’s tenure has not started on a smooth note but remains confident they will get better under the Frenchman.
The 30-year-old has played in every match under Vieira so far this term after the Arsenal legend succeeded Roy Hodgson in the summer.
Palace has scores only one win – 3-0 thumping of Tottenham – after five games in the league.
They have against Brentford and West Ham while losing to Chelsea and Liverpool.
“Consistency is not easy,” Ayew said ahead of Crystal Palace clash with Brighton on Monday night.
“We know we’re working towards a new philosophy, a new style. In games, we’ll get better and better. Everyone is positive.
“We’ve had difficult fixtures, the two games we lost are against Chelsea and Liverpool. We won against Tottenham so obviously, it’s a good start and we need to build on that and we’ll be fine.”
Ayew is also hoping that his own game can benefit from working under Vieira, who he says has a winning mentality that is beginning to rub off on the players.
The Black Stars attacker hasn’t scored for Palace so far this year, with his last goal for the club coming back in November 2020 during a 4-1 win over Leeds.
“[Vieira] wants to win every game because he’s a winner,” added Jordan.
“His winning mentality is transferring to us and we’re binding to it. He wants us to do well and gives his best for the team and that’s really positive.
“I want to do the best I can as I always do, and improve in every aspect to help the team and, obviously, I can be more ruthless in the final third.”
