Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, has opened up about his decision to join Swansea City in 2015, emphasizing that he has no regrets about the move despite initially being unfamiliar with the club.
Ayew’s transition to the Premier League was marked by immediate success, with the Ghanaian forward making an impactful debut by scoring against Chelsea. His stellar performances earned him the prestigious Premier League Player of the Month award in his first month at Swansea.
While discussing his transfer decision, Ayew acknowledged that Swansea was not initially on his radar, but he was attracted to the club’s style of play and the opportunity for a significant role on the team. Additionally, he mentioned that financial considerations also played a part in his decision-making process.
“In France, we didn’t really know about Swansea. Some bigger clubs showed interest, but they didn’t play the same style of football. I had a crucial role to play, and the financial aspect also played a part. For me, it was the perfect decision. And as soon as I arrived, I was recognized as the Premier League’s best player for the month,” Ayew explained in an interview with L’Équipe.
Now, eight years after his move to Swansea, Ayew, who currently plies his trade for Ligue 1 side Le Havre, continues to garner recognition for his outstanding performances.
He was recently honored as the Player of the Month for February by his club, highlighting his enduring impact and consistency in the world of football.
