Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford insists the Ghana Premier League title race is far from over, despite his side trailing leaders Asante Kotoko by five points.
The Kpando-based club suffered a setback in their title pursuit after a 2-1 defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars at Dun’s Park, a result that further dented their championship ambitions.
“It’s Not Over Until It’s Over” – Bashir Hayford
With questions mounting over whether Lions can still challenge for the title, Hayford remains optimistic, emphasizing that there are still plenty of points to fight for.
“We have about ten matches left, which means 30 points are up for grabs,” he said in his post-match press conference.
“If someone is leading with five points, and we have 30 points to contend with, we shouldn’t relax and say they are leading. It is not over. We will keep fighting and see what we can do.”
Crucial Clash Against Kotoko Up Next
Heart of Lions will have an opportunity to close the gap on Kotoko when they face the league leaders at the Kpando Stadium on Sunday, April 6. The match will be a defining moment in their bid to stay in the title race.
