Former Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has confirmed that he remains committed to the sport, despite his absence from the spotlight following his dismissal from the national team in 2021.
Akonnor, who previously served as an assistant to Kwesi Appiah and later as the head coach of the Black Stars, is currently focusing on furthering his education in football coaching.
In an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports, Akonnor revealed that he is working to acquire the traits necessary for a technical director role and emphasized his ongoing commitment to the sport.
“I’m still in coaching. What is important is that I’m learning in the football circle. I’m happy with what I’ve acquired for myself. As a coach, I’m now learning a bit of a technical directorate job,” he explained.
Akonnor’s decision to pursue further education highlights his dedication to improving his coaching skills and his willingness to adapt to new challenges.
Despite being out of the spotlight, the former Ghana international remains optimistic about his future in football and is open to new opportunities that may arise.
As the Black Stars continue their journey under current coach Otto Addo, Akonnor’s ongoing dedication to improving his coaching abilities serves as a testament to his passion for the game and his readiness to contribute to football in any capacity.
