Germany Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen defender, Jeremie Frimpong has shed some light on his decision to snub Ghana for the Netherlands.
The Dutch-born Ghanaian footballer snubbed Ghana despite several attempts to get him play for the Black Stars at the senior national team level.
Not only did he snub Ghana, the versatile player also chose the Oranjes over the Three Loins of England, a country he could have chosen to play for at the senior stage of international football.
In an interview with ESPN Netherlands the youngster spoke about why he decided to play for the Netherlands ahead of England: “I can but England’s out the way.
“I’m not English, I’m Dutch.
“Yes of course (it was a dream). As a young kid I wanted to play for my country, to play for Holland.”
The Amsterdam-born whe moved to England aged seven before teaming up with the Manchester City academy could have opted to represent the English.
He has two assists in the Bundesliga this campaign.
