Andre Dede Ayew is 34 years old and approaching the end of his illustrious career. Many Ghanaians are of the view that he should hang his boots in the Black Stars to give way to the young ones while others believe he still has the strength and the experience to represent Ghana.
In the just-ended French Ligue 1 season, Andre Ayew was one of the best players since he joined Le Havre in February 2024. He helped the struggling club to beat relegation.
Earlier this week, Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo revealed that he hopes to build the team around the younger generation and has spoken to the senior players in the national team.
Ace broadcaster and former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has opined that the final decision on Dede Ayew’s call-up should be made by Otto and his coaching staff.
On Asempa FM, Saanie Daara said, “It is up to the coaches to decide. If I say you should invite him, then people will say it is Sannie who said we should invite Dede.
“If the coach would invite him or not, it is his prerogative. His performance during the season is in front of him to assess and make his decision.
“Even though we are presenting the receipts of his performances to the coaches, it is their decision to invite him or not. But as for his performances, it is there for everyone to see, including the coaches,” concluded Saanie Daara.
Otto Addo will name his squad for Ghana’s crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic by the middle of next week and Andre Dede Ayew is expected to be included.
