Ghana international striker Antoine Semenyo has set his sights on emulating the goalscoring form of Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland, saying he wants to develop into a striker with the same qualities as the Manchester City forward.
Semenyo, who currently plays for Premier League outfit Bournemouth, spoke highly of Haaland’s impressive skills, describing him as “tall, strong, fast, and able to finish” chances.
He praised Haaland’s ability to score goals even when marked by defenders, saying that it’s a quality he himself wants to possess.
“That man (Haaland) is tall…strong, fast, he can finish. He’s got everything you need as a striker.
“The aura he has…if he’s on the pitch and if you don’t mark him…he’s gonna score.
“Everyone’s trying to mark him and even if you mark him, he still scores. I remember watching him…this is the kind of striker I want to be.” He said as quoted by Earn Your Stripes
Haaland has been a revelation in the Premier League since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, netting 27 goals in 31 games last season following his impressive 36-goal haul in his debut season.
Semenyo hopes to follow in Haaland’s footsteps and become a top-class goal-scorer himself.
