Asante Kotoko Coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, Turns Down Hearts of Oak Offer
Prosper Narteh Ogum, the coach of Asante Kotoko, recently disclosed that he declined an offer to coach Hearts of Oak due to his unwavering commitment to his current club.
Despite leading Asante Kotoko to a triumphant Ghana Premier League title, Ogum departed the club unexpectedly. However, he returned to the fold after being enlisted into the Interim Management Committee (IMC) following the dissolution of the previous management and board.
Despite facing challenges in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Ogum reiterated his allegiance to Kotoko, revealing that he rejected an opportunity to coach Hearts of Oak before rejoining his current club.
During an interview with Angel FM, Ogum stated, “I was linked to the Hearts of Oak job; if I wanted to go, I would have done it. It was just there for me to go; they called me, they engaged me. I could have gone. I said no I will not go and they didn’t even understand why…It’s all about Kotoko.”
Asante Kotoko currently occupies the 8th position on the league table with 32 points and is set to face Nations FC in their upcoming Matchday 23 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled at 20:00 GMT.
