Leicester City has officially confirmed the acquisition of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku from Sporting Lisbon, finalizing a season-long loan agreement.
The 19-year-old Ghanaian prospect arrives at the King Power Stadium, having demonstrated remarkable prowess both domestically and on the international stage during the early phases of his career.
Fatawu is now set to integrate into Enzo Maresca’s squad for the upcoming 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season.
In a statement featured on Leicester’s official website, Fatawu expects Leicester to provide him with opportunities and resources that will enhance his skills, abilities, and overall performance as a footballer.
“I’m so happy. This is an amazing moment for me, I’m happy to be here. For me, from looking at Leicester and how I felt about the coach, here is the best place for me.
Fatawu emphasized his decision-making process: “This was the best moment for me to join Leicester. I chose them because I think they can grow me and help me mature. [Enzo Maresca] told me about the plans he has for me and how he wants me to play – how he wants to help me in my football.”
The talented forward began his senior career with Steadfast FC and rapidly asserted himself as one of Ghana’s most promising talents. Subsequently, he transitioned to Dreams FC in October 2021 before making the international move to Sporting Lisbon in April 2022.
