Hearts of Oak will take on Heart of Lions in the 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup, a commemorative friendly match held during the Homowo festival celebrations.
The annual event brings together two teams that competed in the Ghana Premier League during the 2023/24 season, with this year’s edition set to take place on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match is a significant occasion for both teams, and organizers are committed to ensuring its success after last year’s planned match against Great Olympics was cancelled. A press launch for the event will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at the Gbese Mantse’s palace, Ussher Fort, in Accra.
Hearts of Oak recently suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Asante Kotoko in the inaugural Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium. Despite this setback, they will be looking to bounce back and make a strong impression in the Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup.
This year’s edition promises to be an exciting encounter between two teams with rich football heritage. With the tournament’s focus on promoting peace and unity, it will be an event worth looking forward to.
