The 31-year old striker scored a spectacular brace against Accra Hearts of Oak on Tuesday at the Accra Sports stadium as the Phobians were held to a 2-2 draw by Ashantigold.
The Miners needed star striker Hans Kwofie to be at his best and he did not disappoint at all as he brought Ashgold level with Hearts of Oak twice in a game that saw Kojo Obeng Junior also grab a brace for the home side.
But it is the veteran striker who has caught the attention of many people considering the fact that he is 31 and generally not expected to be performing as if it was his peak days.
Three seasons ago he racked up massive 17 goals for Ashantigold to win the to goalscorer award and it appears he is continuing from where he left off. He has three goals in two matches and currently sits top of the most goalscorers chart of the competition.
Hie first goal against the Phobians brought the game to 1-1 and changed the way the contest was going entirely but Obeng Junior who opened the scoring for the 2000 CAF Champions League winners restored the lead for his side with a great header in the second half ten minutes from time on the brilliant service of winger Patrick Razak.
When everybody thought Hearts of Oak were cruising to their first victory of the season in their first outing, Kwofie reminded us that the older he gets, the better he becomes as he headed home from close range in stoppage time to make sure both teams share the spoils.
