Grimsby Town boss Ian Holloway has admitted the club are in talks with English-born Ghanaian striker Omar Bogle – but says a potential return for the striker has fallen through.

The former Mariner has been linked with a move back to Blundell Park this summer after being released by Cardiff City earlier in the year.
Up until now, Holloway had denied that the club were in the running for the striker, who of course fired Town back into the EFL in 2016 with two goals in the Conference play-off final at Wembley.
The Mariners boss has now backtracked on his previous statements and admitted that talks were taking place with Bogle – but has confirmed a move back to Blundell Park looks highly unlikely now.
Holloway had previously hinted at an ‘exciting’ new signing that was being pursued, which he has now confirmed was Bogle.
“It’s fallen flat on its face, so I’m trying to find a couple of new names. The players I talked about before, they’re gone, not going to happen,” Holloway told Grimsby Live.
“It is a goalscorer I need, without a shadow of a doubt. The way things were looking, and what our fans would love me to do, Omar Bogle, we have chased that, that’s not going to happen.
“We have chased it, but unfortunately it’s not going to happen.”
Holloway added: “What it is, is having that presence up there as well, and someone who knows where to go and knows how to do it.
“We missed out on Theo Robinson, that would have been big. We had Lofty (Ryan Loft) the other week, and he got taken from under our nose.
“I am in the business to try and find another one, a natural one who knows what they’re doing, and I know what he needs to look like and the size he needs to be.
“It’s ongoing, it hasn’t finished yet, and we’re still going to try, but there’s no point in me telling you who they are because we’re not going to get them.
“Omar Bogle was one of them. I was led to believe the chairman had good talks with him and it might have been on, and I know the fans would have loved that, unfortunately it looks like that’s fallen flat on its face.
