On Sunday, Asante Kotoko is set to host Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium for matchday 7 of the Ghana Premier League.
Following a slow start that saw them unable to secure a victory in their first three games of the campaign, the Porcupine Warriors have found their footing, winning two matches and drawing one in their most recent three outings.
Kotoko’s primary objective is to accumulate the maximum points from this encounter. However, they will be facing Bechem United, who have also been showing signs of improvement after their sluggish beginning to the season.
Bechem United, commonly referred to as “The Hunters,” ended a four-match winless streak with a convincing 2-0 triumph over Berekum Chelsea in their last match. This victory not only lifted them off the bottom of the league standings but also restored confidence ahead of their clash with Kotoko.
As it stands, the record Ghana Premier League champions have managed two wins, one defeat, and two draws from their first six matches in the campaign. In comparison, Bechem United has recorded two wins, one draw, and three defeats.
Given the dissatisfaction expressed about Kotoko’s points accumulation this season, and considering the significance of the match, coach Prosper Narteh Ogum must devise a strategy that can yield a positive outcome for Kotoko on their home turf.
The hosts are keen on securing their second home victory of the season, but Bechem United is expected to be a challenging opponent.
In their recent five encounters, Kotoko and Bechem United have shared the spoils. Both teams have won two matches each, with one match ending in a draw.
